I don’t believe 2.5 months is a “typical” wait-period for fulfilling a purchase order these days. Maybe if it was custom-made furniture, or a commissioned piece of art, I’d understand. But I’m talking about the popular Adobe Creative Suite, which I ordered for work through Staples.ca in mid-December. And I’m still waiting for it to arrive despite weekly phone calls and requests for an ETA.
If you have 30 minutes to spare, this documentary is worth watching on Oscar night. For those in a creative field who love their jobs immensely, and maybe tell themselves in earnest that they’re “not in it for the money” (I admit I’m probably in this camp too), I can appreciate how all this could lead sometimes to gross exploitation by employers who undervalue their artistic labour. In this case, what follows is a sad story about the unfortunate fate of some talented CGI artists:
